Network is lost on incoming or outgoing call

My phone (Xiaomi Mi9) for some reason no longer can receive or make calls using Vodafone sim. If somebody calls me or if I call anybody the network status changes from 4G to E and if I try again then it is completely lost for few minutes. The issue only covers calls and certain settings: surprisingly internet and sms are still working properly.

I tried:

- 12-step recomendation from vodafone (actually it does not work because vodafone does not support PIN2 and I cannot do anything with fixed dialing numbers without it)

- new sim (sent by the support)

- reboots

- updates

- manual network selection

- prefered network selection

Any ideas?

Hi @Yapaxi,

Welcome to the Vodafone community. I can imagine that it is not useful, if the device jumps to another network during the call. I would like to explain more about our networks.

The 4G network is officially a network for data. But by turning on calling over 4G, you can also make calls over the 4G network. If you do not have the option "Calling over 4G" enabled, the network will change back to the 2G network. I immediately checked via https://community.vodafone.nl/t5/Tips-van-Vodafone/Bellen-over-WiFi-en-4G-VoLTE-VoWiFi/ba-p/124334 if the Xiaomi M9 can use from "Calling over 4G". Fortunately that is possible! You can enable this option in the device via the settings. Can you check if you have this option turned on?  What do you mean by the 12 steps by Vodafone? Unfortunately, we don't support pin 2.

Good to hear that it works again! I think a setting has been changed accidentally by entering a command or through the settings themselves. What also can ensure this is a software update. This allows certain settings to be adjusted. @Yapaxi. Ah, that's what you meant by the 12 steps. By the way, I see that you are using the Vodafone UK website for this. Most steps and settings are the same. The link for the settings of Vodafone Netherlands is https://handleidingen.vodafone.nl

Hi Steven,

It works! Thank you very much! Just a view magical *#*# commands and calls work again.

If I may ask you one more thing - what is your best guess on what happened to the default way of calling on my phone?

p.s

12 steps from vodfaone is the first you find in google: https://deviceguides.vodafone.co.uk/xiaomi/mi-9-android-9-0/troubleshooting/basic-use/i-can-t-make-v...
