How can I cancel my contract from abroad?

Hello, I'm opening this ticket to cancel my subscription. Despite filling out the online form multiple times as instructed, my subscription was not terminated on the requested date. I'm still being billed monthly. My contract end date is September 23, 2025. I would like to cancel it without waiting until that date. I'm willing to pay the remaining amount in one go. I submitted the form again today. Could you please check and get back to me? I'm unable to call as I've moved abroad.

How annoying to see that you want to end your contract. The community is not there to cancel these kinds of things, you really have to contact Vodafone for that.


It is certainly possible to buy out your contract earlier. This way you pay all costs up to the end date in one go. You can request this via Calling 1201 (cancellation) or Call 0800-0094. During the process you can indicate whether you want to leave on the end date or earlier. If you want to use number retention, the new provider must submit a request to us to take over your number. The new provider will then cancel the subscription from the moment the number is transferred to them. In that case, you must indicate to us that you want to leave earlier. I would also like to hear which option you want to use.

As stated on the website: ''Do you want to cancel before your contract has expired? This is possible if you pay off the remaining months of your subscription and any device loan in one go. In this case, indicate when you cancel that you want to buy out your contract.'' Vodafone employee from the Community cannot tell you exactly what the buyout amount will be, but this way (Call 0800-0094) you can get an indication of the amount of the buyout amount. Please note that if you cancel early, the discount on your subscription will expire. You then pay the subscription costs without discount + any device costs in one go until the end date.

The problem is, I tried these numbers but couldn't reach them from where I am (Turkey). Is there no other way?

 

I filled out and sent the form. I received a message saying there would be a response within 5 days, but I didn’t get any response previously either. Please help me with this issue.

The phone system is in Dutch. How can I switch it to English? I couldn't hear anything in english 😕 I recorded some parts and translated them — it says something like: 'The number entered is not recognized as a Vodafone number...'.

 

After connecting, how can I switch to English and reach the right department?"

You also need to call from your Vodafone mobile number and not from another phone. You are probably calling from a NON-Vodafone number. English is unfortunately not possible, probably if you have someone on the line but as you know, Vodafone Netherlands is mainly in Dutch.

I am already calling with the number I am trying to cancel. Still, it's in Dutch. After the call drops, which number or numbers should I press to reach someone? Maybe this way they can redirect me to someone who speaks English.

 

Otherwise, how can I cancel? Why isn't the online form sufficient?

If you have filled in the cancellation form at Je abonnement online opzeggen - Vodafone.nl you will receive a reply and confirmation within 5 days. 

Haven't received a reply after 5 days? I advice you to fill in the form again or you can open a direct chat at Neem contact met ons op | Support | Vodafone

I filled it 4-5 times and got no response. I filled out I last filled it out 3 days ag (ticket-no: 15600944). I don't think I'll get an answer back.

 

As for the chat,  when I click on the chat button it gives an error.

It's unfortunate and frustrating that you haven't heard anything yet. Unfortunately, I am unable to cancel it for you through this channel, as only the cancellations department can do that, and it requires a phone call.

 

The goal is to contact you within 5 business days after submitting the form, so my colleagues should be calling you. If you're unable to wait any longer (which I completely understand), my request is to please try reaching out again to +31 6 54 50 01 00.

As I wrote before, I don't know Dutch. If there is a channel I can reach in English, please let me know. In fact, if you know the combination, I can reach a person by clicking on the relevant numbers, and they will probably help me in English.

Can you help me with this?

 

Otherwise, I think I will simply close my bank account Because I have no other choice.

 

It is truly a disgrace for Vodafone that it is still not possible to close a membership online in the 21st century!

Hello @erdi4856. If you are unable to cancell your contract by telephone, of when you didn`t hear anything from the online from, you were always welcome in one of our stores. We always want to help customers with this. Now that you are already abroad, it is difficult to visit one of our stores.
 

To prevent fraud, it isn`t possible to cancel subscriptions online with us (and other providers). This is a bit annoying in this specific situation, we understand that.
 

When you call our international number +31 6 54 50 01 00, you can choose the options #1 -> #1 in the menu. Our helpdesk will register that you are calling from abroad and you will then be connected to an employee who speaks English. Of course, you can also start a conversation at our chat at: www.vodafone.nl/contact. In our chat we can also help you in English.

Hello again, 7 days ago I called Vodafone and spoke to someone who spoke English. I explained the situation. He said he would escalate and take care of it. Then I received an email. But the email was again the form that had been filled out for me. Even though I said I filled it out 5-6 times.

 

As I said, it's been 7 days and still no response.
